I have a default on a student loan, is there anyway I could still get any money for college?

Been out of college for one year trying to go back now but I was late on some payments, so I don't know how it's going to affect me getting other student loans or scholarships.

It wont affect you in terms of scholarships but you may not qualify for a loan or will have to pay a higher interest rate in order to get one

you will not be eligible for federal aid with a default loan on your record. You will need to rehabiliate your loan to become eligible again.

did you actually default? you have to be past due for at least a year before you default. if so, find out who your sericer is for your loan (if you dont know call FAFSA at 1-800-433-3243) and advise that you want to rehab your loans (usually means you make 9 or 12 monthly payments and then get xferred to a regular studnt loan company) OR you wanna consolidate them out of default (usually done within 45 days). rehab is better because i gets off your credit, but consolidating gets you elig for financial aid quicker.
