Go to Sallie Mae's website. Try to exaust all of your Federal loans and grants first. But, SallieMae uses a lot of lenders and can help you get the best rate. Your rate, however, will depend on your credit rating, so you will most likely need a cosigner if you are young. It can be anyone who is willing. It doesn't have to be family. Hope this helps and Good Luck =)

The interest rates on federal student loans (Stafford, PLUS) are set by the government, and won't vary from lender to lender.

Private student loans (given directly by banks, credit unions, etc.) are not guaranteed by the gov, so carry a much higher risk to the lender. Interest rates are typically based on credit history, so the better your credit history, the less risk you are and the lower your interest rate can be.
